BOLD Tower

One of the themes emphasized at this year's BOLD Camp is the unity and strength that can be achieved as a group. To symbolize this lesson, each of the 105 campers were given one plastic cup to place on the BOLD Tower.  When accomplished, the base of the pyramid would contain 14 cups, all of the way up to the single cup on top.

After an unsuccessful first attempt, the group together identified the problem and offered solutions that would prevent the same mistake again.
Solution 1: Instead of everybody grabbing their cup and approaching the tower at once, an order would be established to bring smaller, more manageable groups forward.
Solution 2: After each row is complete, a  re-count would occur to make certain that it has the correct number of cups.
Solution 3: Once a camper has placed his cup, he would return to his seat to allow for more room around the tower.

The problem solving and second effort paid off, as the BOLD Tower was successfully built and left to stand tall for the week!

Campers learned that mistakes often make for the best learning opportunities. Additionally, much like every single cup that has a specific role in the continued support of the tower, every single camper is necessary for a successful week at BOLD Camp.
